This project focused on local-scale interactions between groundwater, surface water, soils, and vegetation. It collates and interprets field data already collected by DEW, CSIRO, Flinders University, University of Queensland, the MDBA and SA Water. This project aimed to improve the understanding of water and salt movement in lower River Murray floodplains following inundation. This presentation was presented on 28 June 2023 via MS Teams, and provided an opportunity for salinity managers, environmental water managers, and river managers to be presented with the outcomes emerging from this research project.
The immediate results from this project are relied upon by the broader floodplain processes knowledge priority under the Basin Salinity Management 2030 (BSM2030) strategy. The knowledge outcomes from this project are critical to help development of robust and higher resolution modelling for salinity and water management in the Murray-Darling Basin.
